    Lisa Riede Excellence in Communication Award



    The award is presented during the spring semester at the Rebecca Gross ceremony. 





    1977 National Championship Scholarship



    To provide an annual scholarship ($1,000 - $2,000) to an incoming freshman, transfer, or current LHU student-athlete participating on the Lock Haven University men's soccer team. Student must be on the Lock Haven University men's soccer team and must demonstrate leadership on the field, in the classroom, and around the community.





    1980 National Championship Scholarship



    To provid a scholarship for a LHU men's soccer player majoring in Business. The student must be a member of the LHU men's soccer team. They must be a leader in the classroom and show leadership characteristics on and off the field.





    2006 LHU Softball Captain's Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for a student-athlete that is an incoming freshman or current member of the LHU softball team. Student must carry a 3.0 GPA or above during the selection process. Student must possess leadership skills in the classroom, community, and on the field. The selection will be made by the Athletic Director in consultation with the softball coaching staff.





    2017 Softball Scholarship



    To provide an annual scholarship to an incoming freshman, transfer, or current student-athlete on the Lock Haven University Softball Team. The student must demonstrate leadership on the field, in the classroom, and around the community.





    '78-'79 Men's Soccer Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman, transfer, or current LHU student-athlete, participating on the LHU men's soccer team.  Preference would be a student athlete majoring in Health and Physical Education or the Sciences.  Financial need preferred, but not necessary.

    APSCUF Scholarship



    The Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculty (APSCUF) at CU-Lock Haven will grant a $500 scholarship to two CU-Lock Haven freshmen.  Recipients of the grants will be determined on the basis of high school and University academic records, high school & campus activities, and financial need. 

    Although the competition is open to all first-year students, the qualified applicant MUST:
    • be a second semester, first-year student at CU-Lock Haven;
    • not be a transfer student;
    • have completed and passed at least 15 credits of coursework taken at CU-Lock Haven in the Fall of 2023;
    • be taking at least 15 credits of coursework at the time of application;
    • be active in CU-Lock Haven clubs, sports, and/or community activities;
    • not be receiving a Presidential, Academic Honors, or Board of Governors scholarship; and
    • not be receiving a full tuition waiver from CU-Lock Haven.
    Students wishing to apply must submit the APSCUF Scholarship Application by 11:59 pm on Monday, March 18, 2024. The APSCUF Scholarship Committee may choose to interview finalists.  If needed, these finalists will be required to submit a letter of recommendation from a CU-Lock Haven faculty member.

    Bald Eagle Battalion ROTC Scholarship

    ROTC

    A scholarship for an ROTC cadet.  Preference will be given to an incoming freshman student.

    Freshman 1st semester: Must be enrolled and participating in ROTC as a full-time student as defined by LHU and cadet must be enrolled in MILS104. Freshman 2nd semester: Must be enrolled and participating in ROTC as a full-time student as defined by LHU and at the beginning of the 2nd semester, cadet must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Cadet must be enrolled in MILS105 or other required course(s) at the time of entering 2nd semester. As requirements may change from year to year, cadet must meet all additional minimum requirements. Scholarship will be broken into equal parts and awarded at the start of each semester to ensure the awards criteria are being maintained.

    If there is no qualified freshman student, then a sophomore cadet will be selected. Must be enrolled and participating in ROTC as a full-time student as defined by LHU with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, Army Physical Fitness Score (APFT) of 250 or higher, or minimum score that is required at the time scholarship award is being considered. As requirements may change from year to year, cadet must meet all additional minimum requirements. Scholarship will be broken into equal parts and awarded at the start of each semester to ensure the awards criteria are being maintained.





    Baseball Brotherhood Scholarship



    To provide an annual scholarship, in excess of $1,000, to an incoming freshman, transfer, or current LHU student-athlete on the Lock Haven University Baseball team.





    Be The Solution



    To provide an award to LHU students who identify a difficult challenge and create inspiring and unique solutions that impact the LHU community and beyond. The students must be enrolled at LHU, any major, must identify a difficult challenge in society and create a unique solution and present their research/plans to the committee for consideration. Applications will include: Identify a problem, present a creative solution, develop measurable outcomes with a timeline, provide a detailed budget, and a identify faculty sponsor and community partners & provide letters of support.





    Bell Family Wrestling Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman, transfer, or current member of the LHU Wrestling team.





    Bell Future Scientist Scholarship



    1. For a Lock Haven student majoring in hard sciences including: biology, nanotechnology, computer science, chemistry, physics and geology
    2. Must have a minimum GPA of a 2.2 in courses within their major
    3. The scholarship is renewable as long as the student continues to meet the criteria 





    Bill and Kay Pitlik Memorial Scholarship



    To provide a $2,000 annual scholarship to an incoming freshman, transfer, or current student-athlete on the Lock Haven University wrestling team. The student must demonstrate leadership on the field, in the classroom, and around the community





    Biology Honors Award



    This award is determined by Biology faculty members and is awarded at the Science Convocation. 





    Bo Miller Excellence in Computer Science Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for a deserving student majoring in Applied Computer Science dedicated to the advancement of the field of Computer Science. Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a GPA of 3.0 or greater.





    Bonnie Kay Frantz Scholarship



    For an incoming freshman in Liberal Arts with preference to a student participating in theatre or dance club at LHU.





    Bruno Anthony DiMartile Memorial Scholarship



    For an LHU student athlete who has a GPA of at least 2.0 and embodies the characteristics of a successful athlete. Must be eligible to play at the NCAA Division II level and contribute significantly to the LHU football program. First preference given to an individuals on the offensive line. Second to any student playing football that meets the above criteria.





    C. Herbert & Mildred R. Larson Scholarship



    For a rising junior majoring in Computer Science with a strong background in mathematics who is a resident of Pennsylvania. Minimum GPA of 3.0.





    C. Michael Steadman Jr. Memorial Physician Assistant Scholarship



    The Charles Michael Steadman Jr. Memorial Scholarship will financially assist an undergraduate who will be attending Lock Haven's Physician Assistant Program following graduation.

    Michael, a 1992 graduate of LHU and Medic for the Scout Platoon of the 101st Airborne, was tragically killed in a car accident on August 31, 1993.  It is granted to the applicant who most closely exemplifies the qualities of Michael Steadman, in whose honor the program has been established. Michael was an academically talented student with very strong interests in the file of Heath Sciences. He demonstrated a deep fascination with the scientific bases of the field that went well beyond passing tests and earing grades. Michael's personal qualities also made him particularly well suited to a career as a primary health care provider. He was personable with a quick wit and great capacity to get along with people. Had he not lost his life so tragically, he most certainly would have continued to develop effective interpersonal relationships with patients built on trust, a confidence, and competence. The ideal recipient of this scholarship is a student who truly exemplifies the determination needed to succeed in the graduate program.





    C. Watkins & Associates Inc. Employee Scholarship



    To provide a $12,500 annual scholarship to an employee of C. Watkins & Associates, Inc. that is enrolled at Lock Haven University. 





    Cale Shaffer Memorial Scholarship



    For a rising junior Sport Management major with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Recipient should be involved in community service and show a strong willingness to help others.





    Camille "Bud" George Memorial Scholarship

Preference given to a student that hails from the 74th Congressional District of Pennsylvania. Student will be selected at the discretion of the Director of the LHU Clearfield Campus.





    Capstone Development Partners Student Scholarship



    For three LHU students in good academic standing who maintain residence in Fairview Suites or another on-campus residence hall. Recipient(s) should be an active participant in clubs, service organizations or varsity athletics; represent the quality and character that went into the construction of Fairview Suites.





    Captain Andrew Koss LHU ROTC Memorial Scholarship



    A scholarship for an LHU ROTC cadet. Criteria: Army Physical Fitness Score of 250 or higher; GPA of 2.5 or higher; Military Science 1 (freshman year) entering Military Science 2 (sophomore year). Must be enrolled and participating in ROTC as a full-time student as defined by LHU (12 credits). Scholarship will be broken into equal parts and awarded at the start of each semester to ensure the awards criteria is being maintained. 





    Carl D. and Dorothy Trambley Adplanalp Soccer Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman, transfer, or current LHU student-athlete, participating on the LHU men's soccer team. Student-athlete must be competing or signed to compete for the LHU men's soccer team.





    Carl Rudolph's Scholarship



    A $2,000 scholarship to an incoming student, current freshman, transfer, or student-athlete on the Lock Haven University Men's Soccer Team. The student must demonstrate leadership on the field, in the classroom, and around the community. The student must have attended high school in Eastern Pennsylvania.





    Carol A. Wilson, RN Nursing Scholarship



    A $1,000 scholarship for a student majoring in nursing. The student must be in good academic standing, and show need for financial assistance.





    Caroline Cathcart Alleman Memorial Scholarship

    PreK-Grade 4, Early Childhood, Elementary Education

    For a full-time PreK-Grade 4 or 4-8 Middle Level major of worthy character and a minimum GPA of 3.0. Must be active in pre-professional activities.





    Cary Kolat Wrestling Scholarship



    For a student-athlete participating on the Men's Wrestling team.





    Catherine & Leon de Wette Memorial Scholarship



    For students majoring in the Health and Physical Education Teacher Certification program. Must have completed 64 hours at LHU with a minimum GPA of 2.5 in major courses.





    Catherine M. Frantz Memorial Scholarship

    PreK-Grade 4, Early Childhood, Elementary Education

    For students in good academic standing majoring in an Education discipline.





    Charles & Margaret Vonada Scholarship



    For rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors majoring in History, Political Science, or Economics - preference given to those majoring in History based on academic distinction. Must have completed 64 credits, 30 while attending LHU; based on demonstration of financial need.





    Charles H. Randecker Scholarship



    An annual (endowed) scholarship to an academically qualified student with a disability. Priority given to a student with demonstrated financial need and solid academic background.





    Charlotte E. Smith Memorial Scholarship



    For a female Health & Physical Education or Sport Administration major who plays field hockey, women's basketball, or lacrosse.





    Charney Family Scholarship



    Criteria:
    - Recipients must be an incoming Freshman Natural Science or Health Science (Physician Assistant or Nursing) Major
    - Recipients can renew the scholarship a maximum of three times
    - For renewal, the recipients must have a minimum GPA of 2.80 and be enrolled as a Natural Science Major or Health Science (Physician Assistant or Nursing) the following fall semester.

    In the event a recipient becomes ineligible, the scholarship will be awarded to a different recipient meeting the above requirements.

    Selection:
    The selection will be made by the Associate Provost of Enrollment Management along with a committee that includes a member of the Charney family.  There will be no more than three recipients per year with first preference going to students with a demonstrated financial need.

    For a student displaying outstanding artistic ability or performance who is at least a sophomore with a minimum 2.0 GPA.





    Clara M. Clendenen Scholarship



    For rising sophomore, junior, or senior native of western Clinton County, especially Noyes Township, with first preference to English majors from western Clinton County, second preference to English majors from Clinton County, and third preference to any major from western Clinton County, with demonstrated financial need.

    Class of 2009 Are You Worthy Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshmen student-athlete or current LHU student-athlete participating on the LHU softball team. Must carry a 3.0 GPA or above during the selection process and possess leadership skills in the classroom, community, and on the field.





    Clayton Koser LHU Baseball Scholarship



    To provide a $1,000 annual scholarship to an incoming freshman, transfer, or current student-athlete on the Lock Haven University baseball team. Student must be on the Lock Haven University baseball team and demonstrate leadership on the field, in the classroom, and around the community





    Clearfield Campus Founders Award

    This award honors the ten original founders of LHU Clearfield Campus, and will award a student with financial need from any of the Clearfield County School Districts (Philipsburg-Osceola, West Branch, Glendale, Harmony, Moshannon Valley, Curwensville, or Clearfield). The student should be a full-time, degree-seeking student at the time of the award and may be considered again in subsequent years.





    Coast to Coast Lacrosse Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman or current lacrosse student-athlete that has the ability to be an impact player, shows leadership skills, with a 2.8 GPA or higher.

    Constance Irvin Pursley Memorial Scholarship Fund



    To provide a scholarship to a student employed by Stevenson Library. The recipient will be selected by the Stevenson Library Scholarship Committee and shall demonstrate financial need.





    Continue the 70's Legacy Men's Soccer Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for a student-athlete that demonstrates academic success in their field of study, commitment to community service, as well as leadership qualities that support the LHU Men's Soccer Program. For an incoming freshman, transfer, or current student. Must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher and excel as a defensive position player.





    CT Assist Scholarship



    To provide a $2,000 scholarship awarded to a first year Physician's Assistant student which will continue into their second year for $2,000 (totaling $4,000). The recipient must be dedicated to making the world a better place through their service toward others. This scholarship is being awarded to attract potential PA students to LHU. Students must be in good academic standing and cannot be in a probationary status for any reason. Candidate must be willing to spend at least one rotation domestically or abroad to an underserved community. Additional assistance may be available to the recipient if requested through the donor to cover travel costs or lodging associated with such a rotation.





    Daniel Elby Football Scholarship



    For a student playing on the LHU football team who graduated from Harrisburg High School.





    Daniel Pyle Memorial Scholarship



    A junior or senior student in good academic standing that is an active participant in ROTC at LHU. Preference will be given to a student majoring in history, and with demonstrated financial need.  





    David & Anne Ulmer Science Award



    For a full-time Biology major with a least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrating financial need. Priority order for consideration: Incoming seniors, juniors, and sophomores.





    Day by Day Scholarship



    To provide an annual scholarship to an incoming freshman, transfer, or current student-athlete on the Lock Haven University lacrosse team. The student must be on the Lock Haven University Lacrosse team AND must demonstrate leadership on the field, in the classroom, and around the community. .





    Dean Phelps Memorial Scholarship



    For a Mathematics major who has completed 60 credits by the end of the semester with a minimum GPA of 3.0.





    Deanna Welshans Memorial Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship to assist students with a disabling condition to meet expenses beyond the ordinary costs of attending college.





    Dean's Scholarship for a Transfer Student



    To provide a scholarship assistance to academically talented transfer students who have been accepted for the fall semester at LHU. Must have successfully completed at least 30 transferable credits from a regionally accredited institution. Must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. This average is computed using all post-secondary school work attempted.





    Deborah M. Bentley Scholarship



    For a member of the LHU football team (preference given to quarterbacks) but other varsity athletes may be considered. Minimum GPA of 2.5.





    Defense Soap Wrestling Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman or current member of the LHU Wrestling Team. Student must be nominated at the discretion of the wrestling coaching staff.





    Dennis and Gail Lowe and Family Scholarship



    For a student-athlete participating in Football as an offensive lineman. Must be Sophomore, Junior, or Senior with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.





    Dennis Hein Swim Scholarship



    To provide a $500 annual scholarship to a new swimmer during their first year at Lock Haven University. The scholarship can be awarded to the same swimmer for up to four years, provided they are academically eligible. The student must be a member of the LHU Swim Team and in good academic standing.





    Dennis Killion Memorial Wrestling Scholarship



    For a student-athlete participating on the LHU wrestling team with good academic standing.





    Dick and Marge Trout Athletic Scholarship



    For a male or female LHU student athlete with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Recipient must demonstrate leadership and above average talent in their sport.





    Dolores Lynch Scholarship



    For a Social Work major with at least 64 credits and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75. Must have at least a 3.25 GPA in the courses of the Social Work sequence. Not based on financial need, but on merit and good academic standing within the Social Work major. Applicant must write a 350 word essay on why they decided to become a social worker.

    For a rising junior Social Work major with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Recipient should be an active participant and volunteer in campus community organizations.





    Donn & Mary Ann Zaffuto Wagner Basketball Scholarship



    For a student-athlete who plays men’s basketball and makes an important contribution to the basketball program. Priority given to residents of Centre County.

    For rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors majoring in Economics or Political Science with preference given to an Economics major; based on academic achievement and demonstration of financial need.

    To provide a scholarship for an LHU student majoring in Health and Physical Education. The student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrates financial need.





    Dr. Charles Galgoci & Nancy Berry Galgoci Accounting Scholarship



    For a rising senior accounting major with the highest average among accounting majors. Recipient shall have completed accounting course work at LHU.





    Dr. Donald E. & Linda M. Green Geology Scholarship



    For a full-time rising junior or senior student who is majoring in Geology with a minimum GPA of 3.0.





    Dr. Dora Vandine Physical Education Scholarship



    For a student who is entering their professional semester with a minimum GPA of 3 .2 in the Physical Education major and a 3.0 overall.





    Dr. Florentino Caimi Excellence in Music Award



    For students currently performing in the LHU marching band and one other major ensemble in the Music Department.





    Dr. Fran Cornelius Football Scholarship



    For an LHU student-athlete participating in varsity football.





    Dr. George A. and Shirley S. Durrwachter Scholarship



    For a full-time freshman student majoring in a health-related field such as: Health and Physical Education, Health Science, Nursing, Pre-Professional, or Athletic Training. Student needs to be a graduate of Jersey Shore High School.





    Dr. Gerald R. Robinson and Mrs. Jean B. Robinson Memorial Award



    For an academically qualified student who has had a positive impact on the LHU campus and the lives of students.  Minimum GPA of 3.0 and must have completed 64 semester hours and participated in one or more student activities such as athletics, student government or performing arts.





    Dr. Grzegorz Seidler Award



    For an LHU student with a proven Polish heritage who is a rising junior or senior Mathematics major in good academic standing, to defray airfare costs to attend the Marie Curie Skladowska University in Lublin, Poland.





    Dr. K. B. Rao Memorial Scholarship



    For a sophomore or junior English major with a minimum GPA of 3.0.





    Dr. Mary Alice Smith Special Education Scholarship

    Awarded to one or more students in the Special Education, Disability or Community Education programs. Consideration given to academic achievement and interest.





    Dr. Matthew G. Maetozo Scholarship for Academic Excellence



    For a male or female student majoring in the sciences. Must have achieved a GPA of 3.2 or better in a science major and a GPA of 3.0 or better overall.





    Dr. Paula D. Packer Memorial Education Scholarship

    PreK-Grade 4, Early Childhood, Elementary Education

    For a student majoring in an Education discipline with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and is participating in student teaching. First priority given to Early Childhood Education major. Second priority given to PreK-Grade 4 or 4-8 Middle Level majors. Third priority given to any other education field under the administration of the LHU Department of Elementary Secondary Education.





    Dr. Roosevelt Green Memorial Scholarship



    For a student majoring in Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or Geography who demonstrates respect for others, contributes to activities that benefit the LHU community and works to promote social justice on campus.





    Dr. Saundra K. Hybels Memorial Scholarship



    For three students majoring in Communication Media or majoring in the Journalism, Electronic Media, or Advertising and Public Relations track within the Communication Program.     To provide a $1,000 annual scholarship to an incoming freshman, transfer, or current student-athlete on the Lock Haven University Men's Basketball Team. Student must be on the Lock Haven University Men's Basketball team. The student must demonstrate leadership on the court, in the classroom, and around the community.





    Elaine Pierson Memorial Scholarship



    For (2) female LHU student-athletes playing Field Hockey or Lacrosse from Spring Ford High School. One recipient must be playing  field hockey and the second recipient must play lacrosse.     James L. and Susan Dolan Alumni Cross Country Scholarship



    For two male and two female students on the LHU Cross Country team. Must be at least a sophomore with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and special consideration given to financial need, but not necessary. This scholarship awards four $1,000 scholarships.

    For a freshman student from Mifflin County High School who is majoring in one of the social science disciplines or the field of teacher education.

    For a rising sophomore, junior, or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0 that demonstrates financial need.

    For a rising senior female who is studying a major in the College of Business. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 with demonstrated financial need and be active in community service. Preference should be given to a Computer Science major.

    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman or current student-athlete participating on the men's soccer team. Student must be majoring in the Health-related Sciences, Recreation Management, or Physical Education. The student-athlete must demonstrate an excellent character, goal-setting abilities, sound role-modeling skills, and community involvement. Financial need preferred but not necessary.





    Jean F. Deobold Memorial Scholarship



    For a female Health and Physical Education Teacher Certificate program major who is entering her professional semester with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who shows outstanding potential as a Health and Physical Education teacher.





    Jean Y. Snowiss Memorial Scholarship



    To provide scholarships for incoming freshman with a primary residence in Clinton County, Pennsylvania that carry a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The purpose of the scholarship is to be used as a recruiting incentive for students from Clinton County, Pennsylvania who are considering LHU. $5,000 to be awarded every year to support multiple students with a minimum award amount of $1,000.

    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman or current LHU student that is studying math or science. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or above. Student must show strong quality of passion and involvement in a field of math or science.

    For a rising sophomore or junior majoring in one of the performing or visual arts. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Award to be used for travel expenses to visit large metropolitan areas for the purpose of experiencing events and activities in the appropriate discipline, or to underwrite a campus presentation for the benefit of the faculty, students and community. Alternates between music, art and theatre majors.

    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman, transfer, or current student-athlete participating on the baseball team. Student must be competing or signed to compete for the team.     LHU Baseball Scholarship in Memory of Glenn Barrie



    For a full-time sophomore or junior on the LHU Baseball team who has completed 32 credits, has at least one remaining semester, and has a minimum GPA of 3.25. Must demonstrate community involvement. Recipient must send a letter of thanks to Glenn Barrie Jr. outlining his achievements in baseball and the campus community.





    LHU Finance & Administration Department Scholarship



    For a student majoring in the Department of Business and Computer Science. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have earned at least 30 credit hours. Student must have at least one remaining semester at LHU and submit to the scholarship committee a current resume and a short cover letter describing their career goals.

    Used to help recruit potential students to Lock Haven University.

    LHU Foundation-Making a Difference Fund



    To provide a scholarship(s) for an incoming freshman who has demonstrated volunteer service throughout their high school career and carries a GPA over a 3.0.





    LHU Guaranteed Merit Scholarship



    This was ONLY funded for FY2019 - FY2022 (to freshman FA2018, renewable for 4 years if criteria met each year). 





    LHU Legacy Scholarship



    Student must be a freshman. Student must be a legacy student (see definition below). Student must be enrolled full-time (12+ credits). Student must be in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).

    *Legacy relationship is defined as follows: Parent, grandparent, sibling, or legal guardian must be a graduate of Lock Haven University, Lock Haven State College, or Lock Haven State Teacher's College. Incoming student's legacy connection does not have to be genetic, as long as there are legal family ties (adopted children are eligible).





    LHU SAS, Inc. Student Leadership Award



    To provide a scholarship for a Student Government Board member who has displayed exemplary service to the organization. Must have served or be serving as a Student Government Board member during the academic year in which the recipient is chosen.





    LHU Teams of the 1970's Named Scholarship



    Will award a minimum of $25,000 yearly. Can be used in addition to other scholarships offered by LHU. Student(s) must be competing or signed to compete for the LHU Wrestling team.





    LHU Wrestling Legacy Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship(s) for an incoming freshman, transfer, or current LHU Student-Athlete(s) participating on the LHU Wrestling Team. Student must be competing or signed to compete for LHU Wrestling team.





    LHUF Board In Honor of Karl Herrmann Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for a student-athlete participating on the LHU men's soccer team. The student-athlete is a current member of the LHU Men's Soccer Team. The student athlete is an outstanding leader both on and off the playing field. The student athlete must also be eligible and in good academic standing.





    Lin Di Memorial Chinese Studies Scholarship



    To provide financial assistance to a full-time LHU undergraduate/graduate student to study for a semester in a LHU study abroad program in China. Must demonstrate financial need and academic achievement.





    Little Scholarship



    For a non-traditional (age 26 or older) student that demonstrates financial need.





    Lock Haven Branch of AAUW Study Abroad Award



    This award is educational aid for study abroad from the Lock Haven Branch AAUW. It is available to a female Lock Haven University student.

    At a minimum, the applicant must meet the following requirements:
    • Be an enrolled undergraduate student at Lock Haven University during the Academic Year.
    • Be at least sophomore standing.
    • Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and be in good standing with Student Conduct.
    • Receiving a federal Pell Grant during the time of application or provide proof that
    they will be receiving a Pell Grant during the time of their study abroad program.
    • Accepted for a credit-bearing study abroad program through LHU (proof of
    program acceptance is required prior to award disbursement).





    Lock Haven Chemistry Faculty Scholarship



    To provide up to eight (8) $2,000 annual scholarships to incoming freshmen, transfer, and/or current students majoring in Chemistry at Lock Haven, renewable for up to 4 years.

    In fall 2021, up to 4 awards will be made to incoming freshmen and/or transfer students.
    In fall 2022, up to 4 additional awards will be made to incoming freshmen and/or transfer students.

    These awards will be renewable each year, for up to 4 years, as long as the criteria below is met:
    1. Initial award Criteria - Student's first incoming major must be Chemistry with class ranks in the top 20% and GPA's >3.5. 
    2. Renewal Award Criteria: Student received the Lock Haven Chemistry Faculty Scholarship in the previous year. The student's first major must be Chemistry, Gpa must be >2.7, in good academic standing, and must be in courses that will lead to the award of a B.S. in Chemistry (any concentration) upon graduation.

    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman, transfer, student-athlete participating on the LHU Men's Soccer Team with preference given to Italian exchange students, or Italian-American students. Must exhibit strong academic and leadership qualities.

    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman, transfer, or current student-athlete participating on the men's soccer team.

    For an LHU student who participates on the LHU Swim Team with a minimum GPA of 2.8. Financial need may be considered but not required.

    If the award is given to an incoming freshman, the student must attain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for the fall semester. If they attain at least a 2.5 GPA, then the scholarship funding will be awarded during spring semester.

    To provide a $3,000 annual scholarship to an incoming freshman, transfer, or current student-athlete on the LHU Wrestling Team that demonstrates high character and leadership abilities. Student must be on the LHU Wrestling Team and must demonstrate leadership on the field, in the classroom, and around the community.

The student must be a graduate from Central Mountain Highs School, Major in Psychology, and be a current sophomore. The preference is given to applicants who have participated in 4H and on-campus extra-curricular activities.

    Save Haven Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for a Lock Haven University student that is participating on the men's OR women's Track and Field Team. Student must demonstrate leadership qualities on the track/field, in the classroom, and in the community.

    This scholarship is being established in honor of Alexis Pelfrey, Nick Ide, Jack Felt, and all involved in the tireless efforts to save the LHU Track and Field Program. 





    Shades of LHU Legacy Scholarship



    To provide a maximum $1,000 annual scholarship to an incoming freshman, transfer, or current student of LHU. The scholarship will be awarded to a black student that must achieve a GPA of 3.0 or greater.

    To provide a scholarship for an incoming student-athlete or current member of the LHU wrestling program. First preference given to those qualified student-athletes with a minimum GPA of 3.0.





    Shifflet Family Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman student with a graduating GPA of 3.0 or above, majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or one of the Health Science programs. Preference given to a student from Mifflin County High School or a school district in Delaware County. This scholarship should be renewed each year for 4 years, as long as the student maintains a 3.0 GPA. The scholarship will be awarded to the next incoming freshman upon the completion of 4 years.





    Sigma Kappa Scholarship



    For a female student in her sophomore or junior year. Must have accumulated 32 credits, have at least one more year remaining at LHU, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Consideration given to the amount and quality of participation in campus/community activities. Preference given to Social Sciences major.

    For a full-time rising senior in the Global Honors Program who has achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicant must prepare a 300-500 word statement titled "Why I chose to be in the Global Honors Program."





    SOAR (Summer Opportunity Award for Research) Scholars Award



    LHU STEM-HP undergraduate students who secure a full-time summer research experience that meet criteria below may apply for a prestigious SOAR (Summer Opportunity Award for Research) Scholar stipends. Five SOAR Scholar stipends in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded annually to support full-time summer research (laboratory or clinical) by undergraduate students in STEM-HP majors. 

    Eligibility criteria:
    • Student must be a matriculated LHU undergraduate at the time of the proposed research experience with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 and cumulative earned credit hours between 30 and 105.
    • Student must document financial need (signature of Financial Aid Office required on
    award application). 
    • Student must have secured a university-approved unpaid research or clinical experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Computer Science, or Health Professions. Students should work with their advisor to have a research site approved. External research sites may be non-credit bearing; internal research shall carry 6 semester hours of Independent Study credit.
    • Priority consideration will be given to applications submitted on or before May 1.
    • Applications must be submitted to the Dean of Natural, Behavioral, and Health Sciences (East Campus J108; X2204).
    • Selection of SOAR Scholars will be based on the student’s academic profile, presentation of the academic merits of the research and its relation to the student’s field of study, faculty recommendation, and financial need.

    Application Process:
    • With help from your advisor, secure approval for a full-time research experience.
    • Secure at least one SOAR Scholar faculty reference form.
    • Complete the SOAR Scholar application.
    • A complete application must include a separate, written personal statement of the research experience including:
    • Location of the research site.
    • Summary of expected duties. Include the number of hours per week you will be at the research site.
    • Explanation of how this research experience will enhance your overall educational experience.
    • Explanation of why, without this funding, you would be unable to complete this research experience. Include a basic budget to support your need for this award.
    • Complete the SOAR Scholar budget projection, which may include but is not limited to rent, summer tuition, and travel expenses.
    • Submit the application packet, including all of the above, to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences by May 1st.

This student would volunteer his or her time, on a "when available" basis, at the hospital. The recipient selection will be made by the Nursing Department Chair at Clearfield and the Lock Haven Hospital representative should be notified of the selected recipient.





    Stephen and Pamela Poorman Physical and Occupational Therapy Scholarship



    To provide a Clinton County, or contiguous county to Clinton, with a resident scholarship for an LHU upperclassman seeking a Physical or Occupational Therapy degree. This student would volunteer his or her time, on a "when available" basis, at a hospital. The recipient selection will be made by the Department Chair of LHU and the Lock Haven Hospital representative should be notified of the selected recipient.





    Stephen and Pamela Poorman Physician Assistant Scholarship



    To provide a Clinton County, or contiguous county to Clinton resident, with a Physician's Assistant scholarship for a LHU graduate. This student would volunteer his or her time, on a "when available" basis, at the Lock Haven Hospital.

    Student Retention Fund



    This fund was created to help retain at-risk LHU students with financial need. This scholarship fund is maintained and awarded by the Financial Aid Office. There is no application. Students need to contact the Financial Aid Director to see if they meet qualifications for unmet need.

    For a full-time female student carrying a minimum of 12 credits, who entered college at least one year after high school graduation.     The Alfred E. Hoberman Chemistry Scholarship



    To provide up to $10,000 per year to students majoring in Chemistry at LHU. May also be a Chemistry/Biology or secondary education major in Chemistry. Awarded to an outstanding high school student who indicates their intent to major in Chemistry or Chemistry Education. Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 average each year and be a full time student.

    The scholarship shall pay for tuition, room and board, activity fees, education service fees, PUB expansion fees, community center fees and any other fees imposed in the future by LHU. Selection will be made by the Chemistry Department Scholarship Committee and the Office of Admissions.

    To provide scholarships for graduate athletic training students. The recipients shall be rising 2nd year graduate athletic training students with a minimum GPA of 3.2 and demonstrate outstanding potential as a future athletic trainer.





    The David White Arts & Science Scholarship



    For a full-time LHU student who is majoring in one of the Arts and Sciences disciplines. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, demonstrate leadership to the campus community, and submit a resume and a one-page essay on the leadership roles in which he or she has served in the campus community.





    The Dixon Family Wrestling Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for an incoming student-athlete or current member of the LHU wrestling program that is in good academic standing, with preference given to a Health Science major. Athlete will be nominated at the discretion of the wrestling coaching staff. 





    The Dr. Cecilia Macia Scholarship



    Annual scholarship for a student majoring in Spanish who will participate in an LHU international exchange program traveling to a Spanish speaking country. Must have greatest financial need of all applicants and a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a minimum GPA of 3.5 in Spanish. Must also have at least 60 credits.





    The Dr. Edward Hoberman Scholarship



    For students majoring in one of the natural science disciplines including Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Geology. Must be a student of Central Mountain High School maintaining at least a B average (3.0 GPA) and be a full time student in the fall following graduation.





    The Dr. Edward Masood Scholarship



    For a student-athlete participating in either wrestling or football and majoring in either Health and Physical Education or the Physician Assistant Program. May be used for either an in or out-of-state student.





    The Dr. Larry H. Lytle and Lynn J. Lytle Scholarship



    To provide an annual award of at least $500 to a student who is fully matriculated in the LHU Physician's Assistant program. Must demonstrate a desire to practice rural primary care and have documented financial need. Preference given to those whose home is in a rural, medically underserved community as defined by the Pennsylvania State Health Data Center.





    The Dr. Perry Brown Memorial Scholarship



    For a full-time PreK-Grade 4 or 4-8 Middle Level major with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrating financial need. Must have attained sophomore status.





    The Edith Kinsloe Scholarship



    For high school senior students planning to enter Lock Haven University in the fall or spring. Student must be a graduate of Central Mountain High School. Students already receiving tuition waivers are not eligible.





    The Eleanor Baieroski Harendza Scholarship



    For a full-time student enrolled in the Physician's Assistant program who has significant life experiences in a rural, medically underserved area (or health professional shortage area) as defined by the State Department of Health. Must have a desire to return to rural primary care practice after graduation. Must demonstrate financial need and academic ability to succeed in the program.





    The Esther M. Kephart Memorial Scholarship



    For a rising sophomore, junior, or senior at LHU who graduated from either Keystone Central School District, Jersey Shore School District, or South Williamsport School District. Must demonstrate campus involvement and community service. Preference given to a student of a family member who is a Susquehanna Transit employee.





    The Finn Scholarship



    To provide a $1,000 annual scholarship to an incoming freshman, transfer, or current student on the women's basketball team in good academic standing.

    To provide a $1,000 annual scholarship to an incoming freshman from the School District of Philadelphia. The student must be on the Track and Field team (men's or women's) and be in good academic standing.

    The Lee Stephens International Men's Soccer Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman, international LHU student-athlete participating in men's soccer. The scholarship will remain with the incoming freshman throughout his academic and athletic career at LHU provided he meets the criteria listed. 





    The Lee Todd Amigh '64 Environmental Education Scholarship



    This scholarship fund should be used to support four (4) students enrolled in the Environmental, Geographical, and Geological Sciences (EGGS) program at Commonwealth University-Lock Haven in an amount up to $21,000 per year, per student for four (4) years. The scholarships will be renewable to the students for four (4) years so long as the students remain in good academic standing and enrolled in the Environmental, Geographical, and Geological Sciences (EGGS) program.

    Preference given to a student demonstrating financial need. The student must be enrolled at LHU. This scholarship is renewable for four years so long as the student continues to attend LHU, is enrolled in the required major, and demonstrates financial need. If the student withdraws from LHU, then the scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman, or a freshman transferring to LHU.

    The scholarship is awarded to a men's soccer student-athlete who exhibits a strong presence in the classroom, in the community, and on the pitch. This scholarship is for a varsity men's soccer participant that is from PA or a neighboring state and will embody the ideals of a Bald Eagle soccer player.

    For a female student majoring or intending to major in a science discipline at Lock Haven University. Must demonstrate high academic achievement as evidenced by high school grades and class standing or by cumulative GPA in post secondary classes.

    For a rising senior Education major who demonstrates financial need and is in good academic standing.





    The Virginia "Ginny" Snyder Memorial Scholarship



    To provide a one-time $2,000 annual scholarship to a student in memory of the late employee, Viriginia Snyder, who expressed years long dedication and service to LHU. The student must be a local resident of Clinton or Centre County, in good academic standing, majoring a disability and community service, and displays leadership in a faith-based organization/club.





    The Virginia A. Martin Women & Gender Studies Memorial Scholarship



    For two rising sophomore, junior, or senior students minoring in Women and Gender Studies. Must show evidence of leadership/engagement in women and gender issues on the campus or in the community and must discuss this evidence in a scholarship essay of at least 100 words. Minimum GPA of 2.7 (or higher) throughout the whole year after receipt of scholarship.

    A scholarship for a student-athlete on the LHU softball team. The student athlete must be on the LHU softball team and be in good academic standing.  If the awardee achieves 3.2 GPA or above, the donor will send an additional $300 each semester.  The LHU softball coaching staff will communicate with the donor on the awardee's academic standing.

    Must have a GPA of at least 2.0 and embody the characteristics of a successful male student-athlete participating in the sport of wrestling. Must contribute significantly to the LHU wrestling program.

    To provide a scholarship for a LHU student from New York, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania who is in good academic standing, is well-rounded, and has demonstrated financial need.

    Virginia Ehalt Memorial Scholarship



    For a Psychology major who is a rising sophomore or junior, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstration of financial need.





    Vivienne Potter Elby Scholarship



    For a full-time student of color who has achieved at least sophomore status, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and financial need. First preference to be given to graduate of Harrisburg High School, second to York High School or Central York HS.  If there isn't a deserving candidate from these two schools, then a candidate may be chosen from all schools in Dauphin County and York County. If a student cannot be selected based off the high school, recommendation will be made by a select group of individuals at LHU based off a deserving student taking part in a mentoring program. The donor will have final choice in awarding.

    Student will continue to receive the scholarship each year, providing they continue to show financial need and earn a cumulative 2.5 GPA.

    West Main Street Alumni Men's Soccer Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman, transfer, or current LHU student-athlete participating on the Lock Haven University men's soccer team. Student athlete must conduct himself in a manner befitting a member of LHU's men's soccer team on and off the field.





    Whitehill/Roman Memorial Scholarship



    For a student-athlete participating in the LHU intercollegiate football or wrestling program. Alternates each year between the two sports. Must be academically eligible to participate in athletics and demonstrate leadership potential in athletics, academics, and/or campus/public activities. Recipient must have financial need.

    This scholarship is used to help recruit potential LHU students.

    For an incoming freshmen majoring in Art from Lycoming County with preference given to Montgomery School District. Must be an active participant in clubs, service organizations, and/or varsity athletics. This award may be renewed annually if the student remains in good academic standing. 





    William and Twila Sote Memorial Scholarship



    For undergraduate students attending LHU. Student must be from Clearfield Area High School or Reading Area High School. This scholarship is renewable for 4 years, contingent upon student maintaining a C average (2.0 GPA). If the recipient fails to maintain this average for one semester, the scholarship may be extended only upon University approval.


     





    William B. Cook Memorial Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship for a full-time student attending LHU. Student must have a permanent residence in Clinton County, PA. There is no limit to the amount of students who can receive this award, up to the amount of the funds available to be awarded.





    William F. and Jane Williams Scholarship



    For full-time students based on financial need and academic merit.





    William I. Vance Memorial Scholarship



    To provide a scholarship to a Lock Haven student majoring in Computer Science or Natural Science (STEM) field. Preference should be given to a first-generation college student from a rural high school in the central Pennsylvania region. If there are no qualified Computer Science or STEM majors, students majoring in Health Science should be considered. The student should have financial need and a minimum GPA of 3.0. This scholarship is renewable as long as the student continues to meet the criteria.





    William M. Marino, Jr. Scholarship



    For a Keystone Central School District graduate attaining sophomore status. Recipient must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Financial need is considered.
